トンネル図書館はマイキーが研究資料として所有している本を地域に公開・貸出をする小さな私設図書館です。資料を地域にシェアして有効活用すること、そしてマイキーが事業を通じて日々考えていることを地域と共有することを目的としています。
The Tunnel Library is a small private library where books owned by Mikey as research materials are open to the public and lent to the community. The purpose of the library is to share and make effective use of the materials in the community, as well as to share Mikey’s daily thoughts through its business with the community.
コミュニケーションツールとしての
図書館
本は知識を学んだり、物語を楽しんだりするツールであるだけでなく、本の所有者の興味や価値観を伝えるコミュニケーションツールにもなると考えています。私たちの興味関心をもとに蓄積した本の数々は、私たちの頭の中を表しているとも言えます。
トンネル図書館が、マイキーが日々どんなことを考えているのかを地域に知ってもらう、また地域の人々がどんなことに関心があるのかを知る場となることで、共に学び、議論ができる関係が生まれることを目指しています。
Libraries as Communication Tools
We believe that books are tools for gaining knowledge and enjoying stories. But they can also be used as communication tools that convey the interests and values of the book owner. The books we have accumulated based on our interests represent what our thoughts are.
We hope that the Tunnel Library will become a place where the community can learn the sources of Mikey’s thoughts, as well as where the Mikey can learn the community’s interests, to build a relationship where we can learn and discuss together.
マイクロライブラリーの実験
トンネル図書館は、「人口減少などを背景に全国で書店や公共図書館の減少が進む課題に対するアプローチの実験」と捉えています。個人や企業が私設図書館（マイクロライブラリー）を設置して所有する蔵書を地域に開くことで、地域の人々の教養を広げることに寄与するだけでなく、コニュニティ形成や関係性のデザイン、自己表現やPRの場としての役目を果たすのか。どのような運営方法が有効か。マイクロライブラリーの可能性の探求と運営ノウハウの構築に取り組んでいます。
An Experiment in Micro-Libraries
We see the Tunnel Library as “an experiment to approach the challenges posed by the declining number of bookstores and public libraries across the country against factors like the shrinking population. By establishing private libraries (micro-libraries) and opening collections of books owned by individuals and companies to the community, we hope to find how they broaden the education of the locals and serve the community. It will become a place for community building, designing relationships, self-expression, and PR. Through finding effective management methods, we are working to explore the potential of micro-libraries and developing the expertise for their operation.
